The Review

At the beginning of 2025, I joined Körber with the mission to build a Platform to support and enable software development across the organization. 2025 represents the first chapter of this journey – build the platform foundations.

Goals

Both goals were about improving my platform engineering knowledge and experience. Both happened when I joined Körber with the mission of building a platform to support software development, drive standardization, and introduce the concept of developer experience. The learning came from the work itself.

The most useful lesson was this: building a platform is far less about technology than I assumed going in. The hard parts are standardization, adoption, and understanding what developers actually need – not choosing between tools.

Read

I read 16 books of the 20 initially planned. Regarding the articles, I have no idea how many articles I read. Improvement for next year: register the articles I read.

Write

I achieved half the goal – I wrote 3 of the 6 planned blog posts.

Book notes: I started and did not finish the notes for “Frictionless: 7 Steps to Remove Barriers, Unlock Value, and Outpace Your”

Projects

The project BetCycle still sits in the drawer

Tools

I explored a bit of Crossplane. Dagger and Tekton did not get any real time.

Research & Development

IDP and Kubernetes were the topics I worked on.

Learning & Training

The main topic was Platform Engineering. I completed the Platform Engineering Certified Practitioner training successfully.

Community

My only contribution to CD Foundation was participating in a discussion panel about AI: Reducing CI/CD Complexity with Emerging Technologies | LLMs, AI Agents and A2A.

As DevOps Porto organizer, I contributed to the realization of 11 meetups.

The Foundations

Looking back, the roadmap looks half-finished. Books unread, tools unexplored, posts unwritten, a project still in the drawer.

But foundations do not show up well in a checklist. What 2025 actually delivered was a role where I own the platform mission end-to-end, a real organization with real constraints to build for, the certification and the field experience to do it properly, and a clear idea of what I want to build next and why.
